The Lungs of Good Design

Ogling over nice design

Chang and Everton

Not often that we put up our own work but thought this job for Chang Beer was worth a wee mention. We have just launched a penalty shoot out competition for Everton fans to win a mascot experience for their children. It’s a pretty amazing prize as waiting list for the being the mascot are up to 5 years!

The Art of The Title Sequence

Love great title sequences (sometimes more than the movies they are for) and we love the blog The Art of The Title Sequence. An incredible amount of inspiration on the site which features title sequences from modern films such as Coraline to classic favourites such as Saul Bass’ Vertigo titles. All videos are also available in a iphone friendly quicktime movie format. Which makes us love this site even more!

To help promote St Andrew’s Day, Edinburgh based Whitespace have just created The World Wide Ceilidh for Scotland.org. The aim is to get as many people to join the world’s biggest Scottish country Ceilidh dance for St Andrew’s Day on November the 30th. You can upload you and your partners picture via Facebook or a webcam, customise your dancers from a range of tartans, sporrans and even shoes. Then choose a dance and watch yourself join in the action.

Irish pub

Picture 48

Have spend hours pouring over some fantastic CGI images on the Taylor James website. Tayloe James are experts in image creation whether it be CGI or traditional composition or even mixture of both. It’s interesting that many cars manufacturer now use full CGI’s rather than shoot the product as the results are now so realistic there is no need to have the real thing.

Fantasy Interactive – World’s Best Online Agency?

leave a comment »

Wonderful work from Swedish based studio Fantasy Interactive on display in their online portfolio. Lovely range of inspirational visuals and intuitive interaction such as the alcohol counter (all in Swedish unfortunately). They also have an office in New York which allows them to work on global brands such as Nintendo, EA and MTV and were recently referred to as the “world’s best agency” according to Web Designer Magazine. They must be one of the best but who else can stake a claim to be the No.1 online agency?

Super fast Flash

leave a comment »

There a love/hate relationship with Flash based sites at Whitespace. We love the visual look but hate (really hate) the long loading times and the usual complicated navigation that goes with them. Refreshing to see Canadian based Academy creating a visually stunning, easy to use and most importantly fast Flash site for The History of Flight. This engaging site takes you through Michael Jordan’s life and his relationship with his Nike trainers in a super slick timeline which includes video content of the man himself. Nice!

Onwards

leave a comment »

Onwards is an animated film by illustrator James Jarvis and director Richard Kenworthy. It follows a character out on a run through a landscape that becomes increasingly abstract and Escheresque as the film progresses.

The simple, hand-drawn execution is layered onto a technically-sophisticated 3D world and the effect is amazing — perfectly capturing the day-dreaming experience of running.

The film is ‘presented by Nike’, and, much like ‘Chalkbot‘ (another Nike project) and ‘The Fun Theory‘ (by Volkswagen) keeps the association with the big brand subtle, allowing the idea to shine through.
